2004-01-20 - 10:57 a.m. Today was supposed to be my first day in my clinical psych rotation. Supposed to be because I showed up and then got sent home for being "unprepared." I don't want this blog to be just a rant about my idiotic professors, but puhleeze. We were supposed to outline chapters before we showed up so that we would be prepared to answer questions before we went out onto the floor. Fine. I did that last week so that I would be able to get a good night's sleep. We were told that if we weren't "prepared" we would get sent home and receive an Unsatisfactory for the day with no way to make it up. Got it? I thought I had. I outlined the chapters and even went over it before going inside. We are sitting at the table and the instructor asks for us to turn in the outlines. What???? Where in all of the paperwork did it say, turn it in? No where that I can see. She looks at me and says well you are going to have to go home. I can't let you on the floor if you aren't prepared. But the thing is, I was prepared. I just didn't realize that I had to turn in the work. In case you are wondering, there were 2 others who didn't bring their outlines either. So 3 out of 7 students got sent home. Seems like to me there is a problem in communication, and it isn't all on my end. Hubby was furious and ready to go to the dean. After all we are paying an arm and a leg for me to get treated this way.
