2004-02-02 - 6:13 p.m. I have to put my two cents in about the Janet Jackson Superbowl disaster yesterday. I did not see the halftime show, since I was busy doing gobs and gobs of homework. But we did have the tv on and my 9 year old was in and out of the room. He says he didn't see what happened, but he does know about it. I didn't really pay any attention to all of the comments on the radio this morning. But when I got in the car this afternoon, the local radio personalities were claiming that Justin Timberlake ripped off Janet Jackson's top and exposed her breast on purpose. That it was all a publicity stunt. They are basing this on the fact that Janet Jackson released a new single this afternoon. Sorry I don't buy it. I think yes he was supposed to rip off her top layer of clothes, but she was supposed to have something on underneath, not just nipple jewelry. (BTW, Miss Jackson, YOU are nasty!) I don't think that CBS would have let them do that kind of thing on purpose. I think yes we were supposed to be shocked, but I don't think frontal nudity is what they were going for. CBS would have Timberlake and Jackson's heads on a platter before they would allow anyone to jeopardize the most watched event of the year. CBS serves their advertisers and I believe that they sell the high dollar ads hoping that they are what is talked about the next day around the water cooler, not Janet's piercings. Just my opinion.
